This is a two semesters course taught in double block setting. That is a required course for graduation.
During the year the students will take the chapter tests, the benchmark tests, and two exams: 1st semester exam and 2nd semester exam.
At the end of the course the students will take SOL.
Textbook: Algebra I
Publisher: Pearson / Prentice Hall, 2006 edition

Grading System
- Quarter Grades:
60% Tests
20% Quizzes
15% Homework, classwork, notebook, and labs.
5% Benchmark Test
- Semester Grades:
40% First Quarter
40% Second Quarter
20% Semester Exam
Notebook and Notes
For the notebook you will use a 3-ring binder that is divided into four sections:
- notes
- classwork /homework
- returned quizzes / tests
4.SOL review
Notes will have to be taking daily.
Notebook will be checked periodically for quiz grade.
Classroom Rules
- Show respect and kindness to others.
- Be in your assigned seats by the end of the tardy bell.
- Leave your assigned seats only with permission.
- Raise your hand for permission to speak.
- No obscene or abusive language in the classroom.
- Come to class prepared with all required materials.
- Food, drink, and gum are prohibited in the classroom with the exception of clear water bottles.
- Keep the room neat and clean.
- Do not put your head on your desktop or sleep.
- Cell phones - turned off and out of sight (see student handbook).
Rewards
- In class verbal praise.
- Phone call or e-mail to parent.
- Letter of recognition to parent.
Consequences
- Verbal warning to student.
- Phone call or e-mail home to parent.
- Referral to administrator for repeat violation.
- Removal from class
Attendance and Tardiness
Strict enforcement of school policies
